The National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) of the United States Department of Education (USDOE) estimates about 4 million FTE (Full Time Equivalent positions) are educating over 50 million students in grades K-12, in Americas public schools--across the over 14,000 Local Educational Agency (LEA) school districts in the USA. NCES estimates based on data reported by individual Sate Educational Agency (SEA) that about 10-12% are Latinos- -over 400,000-475,000 persons who identify as Hispanic/Latino are serving in our nation's public schools. Of those 450,000-475,000 Latinos LAACE estimates based on national Latino church data and denominational registers, that about 10-15% are "experiential faith" church affiliated educators, an estimated 40,000-60,000 Latino Christian educators are working in public schools. It is also estimated that about 4,000 to 6,000 Latino educators and administrators are working in charter and private schools.
LAACE is a national association who is organizing and recruiting this particular "niche group" of Christ-centered school educators and administrators to serve as a national voice of advocacy and support for our Latino children and families in their schools.
